Historically, black women in construction faced double discrimination due to their gender and race. Local 528 is proud to honor Cement Mason, Eunice Bias as the first African American woman to be initiated into this Local. She joined on May 18, 1981 and remains a member, to this day. She has the longest membership with Local 528 than any other woman and we honor her for being a trailblazer for the rest of the women in this Local. Eunice retired from the field on May 1, 2011 but remains present in the union as an involved member and a mentor.
