Sending ID Kits to Members
The OPCMIA is all about family — our own great union family and the families of our members. That is why we are proud to announce that we have entered into a partnership with the National Child ID Program to ensure that our members are fully prepared to assist law enforcement in the unlikely event that a child goes missing.
You will receive a child ID kit in your Fall issue of the OPCMIA Journal. In addition, we will send extra kits to all Local Unions. These kits provide virtually all of the information law enforcement would need if a child goes missing. The information in the kits stays private, in your possession, unless the need arises.
This is a difficult subject to raise, but the tragic fact is that each year, 800,000 children in the U.S. and 50,000 children in Canada go missing. Law enforcement authorities are handicapped if they don’t have access to key information, and the child ID kits ensure they have what they need to find missing children.
Please view this video to learn more about our partnership. If you need additional child ID kits, please contact your Local Union.
With best wishes for your and your children’s safety and well-being,
Daniel E. Stepano
General President
