OPCMIA “MVP” Served 10 General Presidents
Linda Chamberlain, who served as Executive Assistant to 10 OPCMIA General Presidents over her 54-year tenure with our union, announced her retirement effective July 1, 2023. She was recognized and praised by all who worked with her for her extraordinary service, exceptional performance, and deep dedication to the well-being of every OPCMIA member.
“I’ve had the privilege of knowing and working with Linda ever since I became a member of the General Executive Board and, as far as I’m concerned, she’s always been the OPCMIA’s MVP,” said General President Kevin D. Sexton. “Over the past five months when she served as my Executive Assistant, I saw first-hand what the nine previous General Presidents did—she is simply the greatest. I’m going to miss her terribly, as will everyone at International Headquarters, but no one is more deserving of a fulfilling retirement. I wish her nothing but the best.”
“I couldn’t have been more blessed to have Linda as my assistant over the past several years serving the OPCMIA as General President,” said former General President Daniel E. Stepano. “Her hard work and dedication in assisting 10 General Presidents is truly unparalleled, going beyond job requirements to ensure that our members receive the highest quality service possible. I thank her for everything she has done over the past 54 years working for the OPCMIA assisting this organization and me. She made coming into work a true pleasure.”
“She was the best,” said former General President John Dougherty. “Linda was always on the ball, always there. If work had to be done late at night, she was always there. Her work was impeccable. I couldn’t have gotten anybody any better. I can’t say a bad word about her. She was very loyal to the General President. She worked and worked and worked—whatever had to be done. I’d rate her as 100 percent-plus.”
Linda Chamberlain retires with the boundless gratitude of General President Sexton and everyone with whom she served and worked.
