The OPCMIA proudly supports Women in Construction Week, which runs from March 6-12, 2022. We are deeply committed to recruiting, retaining, advancing and empowering women in our crafts. And we celebrate all OPCMIA’s Steel-Edge Women are achieving.
We want to give a special shout-out to our sisters who have won Tradeswomen Hero Awards from Tradeswomen Build Nations over the past two years:
- Kilah Engelke, Local 599
- Rebekah Lyons, Local 528
- Alisha Crespo, Local 528
- Nicki Bradshaw, Local 528
- Alise Martiny, Local 518
- Theresa Egly, Local 599
These skilled, strong, pioneering women — and every one of their OPCMIA sisters — are heroes in our book, proving day in and day out that when it comes to laying concrete, plastering or fireproofing, women do the job every bit as well as men — and often better!
This week — and every week of the year — the OPCMIA is working tenaciously to open new doors of opportunity to women in our crafts and our union.
