OPCMIA General President Daniel E. Stepano has released a holiday season video wishing all members well, announcing his January 31st retirement, and reflecting on his time as this great union’s top officer.
“My goal has always been to leave our International Union in better shape than when it was given to me,” he said. “I’m leaving your union in great shape both financially and in terms of our membership.
“We have come such a long way in such a short time,” General President Stepano said, noting the expansion of member family scholarships, creation of the Steel Edge Women, and the establishment of a Member to Member (M2M) Fund which will start offering maternity leave benefits on January 1, 2023. The OPCMIA General Executive Board is also developing plans for the M2M Fund to offer child care benefits, catastrophic health care assistance, per diem assistance, natural disaster relief and a strike fund.
“I don’t think I could be prouder of you all and how far you’ve come,” General President Stepano said. “And actually, this is a testament to your drive, your fortitude and your perseverance, and I thank you for that. I am honored and believe me, I am humbled to have served as your General President. So during this holiday season, please be safe, eat too much, relax, reflect, and most of all, please enjoy your family.”
