The OPCMIA applauds the U.S. Senate for confirming the nomination of Marty Walsh as United States Secretary of Labor and congratulates Secretary Walsh upon taking office.
Secretary Walsh could not be more qualified for this vitally important Cabinet post. And he has the vision to properly fulfill the Department’s mission “To foster, promote, and develop the welfare of the wage earners, job seekers, and retirees of the United States; improve working conditions; advance opportunities for profitable employment; and assure work-related benefits and rights.”
It’s an honor to have a Building Trades Brother serving as Secretary of Labor. We look forward to working with him as he upholds collective bargaining rights, enforces labor and workplace safety laws, revitalizes the U.S. Occupational Safety & Health Administration, and returns the department to its rightful role as a champion of our nation’s workers.
