The OPCMIA is joining with our brothers and sisters in the building trades to encourage Rep. Tim Ryan to run for the open U.S. Senate seat from Ohio in 2022.
Throughout his 18 years representing the people of Ohio’s 13th Congressional District, Rep. Ryan has been a fighter for our members, for the labor movement and for working families every step of the way.
He has been a fierce champion of world-class union apprenticeship programs, and of the multiemployer defined benefit pension plans our members depend on. Most recently, he voted for the American Rescue Plan that will put money into most Americans’ pockets and vaccines into Americans’ arms, revive our economy and save our members’ retirement security. He voted for the PRO Act, which would restore to workers the right to organize and engage in collective bargaining to improve their living standards and working conditions, and gain a voice in the workplace. And he continues to be a strong advocate of making the federal investments needed to revive our crumbling infrastructure and create millions of good-paying jobs.
The OPCMIA believes that Rep. Ryan will be exactly the kind of forward-thinking, principled, activist leader Ohio’s working families need in the U.S. Senate. We hope he decides to run, and if he does, he will have our enthusiastic support.
