My name is Sarah Threinen, and I am from Kasson, Minnesota. I am the daughter of John Threinen, who has been a proud member of Local 633 for over 20 years. I currently hold my dental assisting license and have worked as a dental assistant for the past two years, which has helped me gain valuable hands-on experience in patient care and strengthened my passion for the dental field.
I am currently furthering my education as a second-year dental hygiene student at Rochester Community and Technical College. Through my program, I am continuing to build my clinical skills, deepen my understanding of oral health, and develop my ability to educate and support patients in improving their oral health. My goal is to become a compassionate and knowledgeable dental hygienist who makes a meaningful impact in my community by promoting preventive care and helping patients feel confident about their smile.
I am very grateful for the opportunity to pursue this career path and for the support that has helped make my education possible. I am especially thankful for my father’s dedication and hard work, which has led me to opportunities that allow me to further my passions and continue my education. I would also like to sincerely thank the OPCMIA Patrick D. Finley Scholarship Fund for awarding me this scholarship and for investing in students like me who are working toward their educational and professional goals.
