My name is Zulema Esparza, and I am very grateful to be a recipient of the OPCMIA “Patrick D. Finley Scholarship Fund.” I am the daughter of Sergio Esparza, a dedicated and hardworking member of Local Union 300 in Oakland, California, for 24 years. From an early age, my parents instilled in me the importance of education and the endless opportunities it offers. In 2023, I graduated from Golden Valley High School as salutatorian, with a 4.28 cumulative GPA and was a proud member of the California Scholarship Federation (CSF) and the Women’s Empowerment Club. It was my parents’ unwavering support and love that enabled me to persevere in all my current and future academic endeavors. This upcoming academic year at California State University, Stanislaus, will be my last. I currently maintain a 4.00 cumulative GPA and intend to be a first-generation graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing. I am grateful to OPCMIA for selecting me as a recipient. Gracias a mi familia por sus sacrificios y su apoyo. Todo lo que he logrado es reflejo de sus esfuerzos y siempre deseo ser un orgullo para ustedes.
