OPCMIA Statuette

On behalf of the OPCMIA General Executive Board, I would like to wish all of our members and their families a happy Labor Day.

This is a day to celebrate all our union and the entire labor movement bring to our lives: Middle-class jobs, secure health and retirement benefits, world-class training, health and safety on the job, and a strong voice in the workplace.

We observe Labor Day at a time when our movement has reached new heights of popularity because workers recognize that it’s better in a union. As OPCMIA members, we are also benefiting from record federal investments in construction due to enactment of the bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the CHIPS & Science Act – and this administration’s actions to strengthen the Davis-Bacon Act and ensure the use of Project Labor Agreements.

So now is the time to seize the opportunities before us – to organize as never before, to recruit as never before, and to train as never before so we can supply the skilled plasterers, cement masons and shop hands our two nations need. And to elect officials on November 5th who will be on our side every step of the way by building on the current administration’s pro-worker policies and investments into the future.

Together, let’s enjoy Labor Day – and let’s get to work in the critical days, weeks and months to follow.
