On behalf of the OPCMIA General Executive Board, I want to wish all of our members and their families a happy, healthy and prosperous 2025.
We enter the New Year as a union in a very strong position. Members are working in record numbers, thanks in large part to the infusion of federal spending from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the CHIPs Act — and their rules encouraging the use of Project Labor Agreements.
We must seize every opportunity to continue to grow our numbers and our work hours. At the same time, we will face challenges in 2025 that we will work to overcome, including the continuation of federal infrastructure investments and rules that protect good jobs and high living standards. We will also need to ensure that our world-class apprenticeship programs keep expanding and improving, and that they are not undermined by misguided federal action.
Organizing, training, political and legislative action, and member activism will all be of paramount importance.
There is much to be done this year. Rest assured your union has got your back.
Happy New Year!
Kevin Sexton
General President
