On behalf of the OPCMIA General Executive Board, I want to wish every member and their families a healthy, happy and fulfilling New Year.
For me, this will be a New Year of transition, as I will retire on January 31st. Serving as your General President has been the highest — and most humbling — honor of my 42 years as an OPCMIA member. I will leave this post proud of what we have accomplished together and enthused about what our union will achieve under our next General President, Kevin Sexton.
For you, I hope this will be a new year filled with great rewards and opportunities. Your union is going to serve you better. Starting today, our new Member to Member (M2M) Fund is now offering maternity leave benefits to our Steel Edge Women. Your General Executive Board is also developing plans for the M2M Fund to offer child care benefits, catastrophic health care assistance, per diem assistance, natural disaster relief and a strike fund.
These benefits, combined with expanding work opportunities as the Infrastructure Act’s investments spearhead major new projects, should make 2023 a year of great promise.
I want to thank every OPCMIA member for staying strong and for supporting one another throughout 2022.
And above all, I hope that 2023 proves to be a wonderful year for you and your families.
Daniel E. Stepano
General President
