OPCMIA Statuette

On behalf of the OPCMIA General Executive Board, I want to wish all of our members and their families a happy, healthy and prosperous 2024.

I believe this will be a year of promise. Continued funding from the bipartisan Infrastructure & Investment Act and the CHIPS & Science Act, combined with strong prevailing wage and Project Labor Agreement protections, should make work opportunities numerous. Our greatest challenge continues to be providing the skilled plasterers, cement masons and shop hands our industry needs in these good times, which is why we continue to work to expand the efforts of the OPCMIA International Training Fund.

Importantly, 2024 is also an election year, with offices at all levels — the presidency, Congress, governorships, state legislatures, counties and municipalities — up for grabs. Much is riding on the outcome for OPCMIA members, including infrastructure funding, labor law enforcement, workplace health and safety, and workers’ rights. Your union will do its part to ensure that you know where the candidates stand on these critical issues, so you can vote in your best interest.

There is much to be done this year. Rest assured your union has got your back.

Above all, I hope your New Year is the best one yet!
