On this Memorial Day, let us pay tribute to all who made the ultimate sacrifice for our countries and our democracies. Let us celebrate their courage and heroism. Let us uphold the legacy they have left us. And let us honor all who today serve our countries to keep us safe and free.
Let us also keep in mind that many of those we remember on this Memorial Day were our own OPCMIA brothers and sisters. Service and love of country are central our union’s ethos and our fallen heroes embody the very best of OPCMIA.
Today, democracy is under threat on multiple fronts, from rocket attacks targeting the people of Ukraine to political assaults on voting rights here at home. We owe it to all those we honor on Memorial Day to do everything we can—as proud union members and citizens of our nations—to defend democracy and our freedoms at every level to ensure that their sacrifice was not in vain.
