General President Daniel Stepano

Throughout the course of our 156-year history, countless proud OPCMIA members have served in the armed forces of the United States and Canada, defending our countries’ freedom.

We are indebted to them for their patriotism, courage, and heroism.

What we owe our veterans is far more than our thanks for their service. We owe them the best health care in the world, through a stronger Veterans Administration in the U.S., career opportunities through programs like Helmets to Hardhats, and other meaningful efforts to help our returning heroes transition to productive, rewarding civilian lives.

On this Veterans Day, we dedicate ourselves to doing right by our veterans. We will work with the incoming Biden-Harris Administration to undo the politicization and privatization of the VA so it can truly fulfill the promise of its mission … to restore funding for job training programs and other services for veterans … and to revitalize our infrastructure to create new job opportunities for veterans entering our crafts and other building trades.

Above all, we will keep doing everything in our power to ensure that our nations keep the sacred promise we make to our veterans. Surely, that is the very least we can do.
