President’s Messages

On behalf of the OPCMIA, I wish all our proud members and their families a happy, healthy July 4th! There is a lot to celebrate this year. Because nearly 70 percent of Americans have been vaccinated, the COVID pandemic is fading in much of the U.S. and life is returning to normal.

In my view, Memorial Day 2021 means many different things. First and foremost, as always, it is a solemn occasion in which we honor all those — many of whom were part of the OPCMIA family — who made the ultimate sacrifice for our countries and our freedom. We are forever in their debt.

On behalf of the OPCMIA’s 56,000 proud members, I want to express my deep condolences to the family and friends of the legendary John Sweeney, a great leader of the greatest movement of our times.

On behalf of the OPCMIA’s 56,000 proud members, I congratulate Joseph R. Biden, Jr. and Kamala D. Harris on their historic inauguration as President and Vice President of the United States, and pledge our support for their leadership in healing our nation, saving lives, reviving our economy and solving America’s many problems.

On this solemn and important day, the OPCMIA honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. All of us must carry his mission forward, especially in this moment when racism and white supremacy threaten the very fabric of our democracy.

On behalf of the OPCMIA’s 56,000 members, I enthusiastically applaud President-Elect Joe Biden’s nomination of Boston Mayor Marty Walsh as the next U.S. Secretary of Labor.

Never in my lifetime has a New Year been more highly anticipated and more long-awaited. On behalf of the OPCMIA General Executive Board, I wish every member and your families a joyful goodbye to 2020 and a 2021 that brings everyone welcome relief, good health, opportunity and prosperity.

This Christmas may be very different from past holidays, but I hope that whether you are celebrating in person or virtually, you are able to connect with your loved ones and bask in the warmth of your family.
