OPCMIA Mourns Richard L. Trumka

It was with great sadness that we learned of the sudden passing of AFL-CIO President Richard L. Trumka this morning. Lewis, William Green, Walter Reuther, George Meany and so many other titans of the U.S. labor movement.

Happy Independence Day!

On behalf of the OPCMIA, I wish all our proud members and their families a happy, healthy July 4th! There is a lot to celebrate this year. Because nearly 70 percent of Americans have been vaccinated, the COVID pandemic is fading in much of the U.S. and life is returning to normal.

Commemorating Memorial Day

In my view, Memorial Day 2021 means many different things. First and foremost, as always, it is a solemn occasion in which we honor all those — many of whom were part of the OPCMIA family — who made the ultimate sacrifice for our countries and our freedom. We are forever in their debt.

On this solemn and important day, the OPCMIA honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. All of us must carry his mission forward, especially in this moment when racism and white supremacy threaten the very fabric of our democracy.
