OPCMIA Promotes Members at Canadian Concrete Expo

At the direction of OPCMIA General President Dan Stepano, Local 598 Toronto Business Manager Tony Mollica, Local 598 President Jason Langley, Local 919 Vancouver Business Manager Roy Bizzutto and other officials and staff carried our union’s flag at the third annual Canadian Concrete Expo, held January 22-23 in Toronto.

General President Stepano Profiled in Hometown Newspaper

General President Daniel E. Stepano was recently profiled in his hometown newspaper, the Tribune-Review. The article discusses how when he was growing up in Arnold, Pennsylvania, just northeast of Pittsburgh, he learned plastering from his father, Local 31 member Ed Stepano, and how it shaped his approach to his craft and his union.

OPCMIA Spreads Holiday Cheer

The OPCMIA recently visited Lindale Middle School in Linthicum Heights MD to spread holiday cheer. Students used VR technology to learn about fireproofing and other OPCMIA crafts and they made ornaments for the OPCMIA Xmas tree. A great time was had by all!

Steel-Edge Women Build Nations

The OPCMIA’s proud Steel-Edge Women played an active, important role in the just-concluded ninth international Tradeswomen Build Nations Conference in Minneapolis. More than 2,800 tradeswomen — including the largest OPCMIA delegation ever — gathered to share experiences and best practices with their sisters, to learn about new programs and opportunities in the industry, and to engage with top leaders from government, industry and 15 international building trades unions.
